Gabungan Darurat Iklim Malaysia is a loose coalition of civil society organisations, and individuals formed in 2021 to address Malaysia’s response to the global climate emergency through urgent and concerted action.
Vision
We are fighting for a Malaysia that recognizes the climate emergency, and implements a long-term low-greenhouse gas emissions, resilient and sustainable plan of development that upholds ecological justice and empowers all Malaysians to become climate-resilient.
Mission
To build a just and resilient Malaysian society that is empowered and enabled to face a climate-challenged future with competence and acts to stop all ecologically destructive and unjust activities in solidarity with local and global efforts through a coalition of Malaysian civil society organizations/individuals.
Objective 1
To advocate for the Malaysian government and all sectors to acknowledge/declare a climate crisis/emergency to keep global warming to well below 2C with efforts to contain it within 1.5C; and thereby, to incorporate climate action and resilience into all sectors and development plans, with a special focus on vulnerable sectors at most risk of harm.
Objective 2
To educate, empower and capacitate all Malaysians to face the climate challenge competently, take up good ecological and resilient practices in all aspects of their lives, and join the global movement for ecological justice especially climate justice.
